Abstract: | The Wustermark diesel engine was constructed by the Maschinen Bau Anstalt Breslau as an upright standing two cylinder trunk piston engine. It is the oldest kept diesel-engine in Germany in its original place. The engine ist part of a still existing assembly built for the generation und distribution of electricity dating back to 1909. A thick layer of oil prevented the components from corrosion. But the layers of the oil based paint are fragile and flaking off. The author is studying the ageing process of oil based paints. Methodologies of consolidation are presented. The use of acrylic resins in a monomer shape was tested. |
