Overview:

Abstract: Important components of the sanatoriums of Beelitz which were opened in 1902 are the pump stations of the heating plant. For decades the pumps supplied the sanatoriums with large amounts of drinking water as well as water intended for other uses. The pump plants with their technically highly interesting equipment were subjected to vandalism and decay over the last couple of years. This work presents the technical construction and significance of one of the pump plants. The plant is presented in graphic, photographic and written documentation. A number of different concepts are discussed in order to develop a way for conservation which is orientated at the historical condition of the plant. The practical part of the work consists of the exemplary work on several representative parts of the plant structure.
