Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The aim of the Bachelor thesis is to develop a concept for the conservation and restoration of a triplex comb made of antler. The medieval burial object was found in Büttleborn, Hessen, in 1988 and was recovered in a block. First the object is documented and classified in its historical background and its informations are presented. This is substantiated by scientific examinations (X-Ray, FTIR, microscopy). Thereafter, a concept for the conservation and restoration is developed. It focuses mainly on the cleaning and adhesive bonding. This is supported by theoretical considerations and practical testing. Conclusively, preventive packaging and storing is discussed.
