Abstract: The canvas painting "Dead Representation of the Duchess Christiana of Sachsen-Merseburg" was in extremely damaged and unsightly conditions. The damage in mainly due to a Long-time storage in a very humid enviroment and the entire canvas shows great shrinking and deformations. Especially the Support in the lower left Corner is very brittle. Moreover there are many tears. The work deals with the conservation as to a restretching. This includes the elimination of the deformations, securing pf paint layer on the brittle support. Furthermore it engaged concideration to reinforce the fragile support in order to arrange a Strip lining.
