Abstract: Using the example of a contemporary art work by Katharina Grosse, possible
measures under the Integrated Pest Management, are pointed out. The
installation consists of three tree trunks with associated root bales which are
sprayed with acrylic paint. Prior to the exhibition the wood was unable to get
preventive and conservation measures concerning wood moisture and pest
prevention.
This paper presents the installation, shows problems during the current exhibition
and then briefly presents the basics of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). With
the basics of IPM, alternative solutions for this installation are listed, furthermore
another sample object is presented in comparison.
