Abstract: | This master thesis deals with the canvas painting called “Religious scenes (the legend of a female saint)“ from the museum of Luneburg. Neither the artist nor the origin of the object that is probably originated from the 18th century are known. The painting is in an anxious condition regarding the conservation due to the ageing process as well as previous restoration procedures. In particular, the application of a lining led to extensively damages. In addition to the technological examination, the state of preservation is documented in order to develop an object-specific treatment that focuses the consolidation of fabric support. Moreover preparatory activities that are based on those conceptual considerations regarding the conservation are implemented and incipient actions to the consolidation of fabric support are converted in practice. |
