Abstract: The preservation and conservation of art and cultural objects with a combination of paper and fabric makes great demands on the restorer. Are the many historical and contemporary objects with such a combination of materials considered, it is clear that a solution for a interdisciplinary treatment of these objects must be found. The aim of this study was to create a preliminary approach for a carton of Hermann Prell from the year 1905, to secure the conservation status, while maintaining the present combination of materials from paper and fabric. On that account this study presents the pro and cons of techniques and variants of paper conservation compared to those of the conservation of paintings.Taking into account the conservation requirements of both departments also a concept to cleaning and crack closure has been developed. An implementation of measures to secure the conservation status was also content of this work. In addition, an approach to storage and transport was created and implemented.
