Ronny Stiegert: A state coach (Berline Type) Technological Examinations and Development of Restorational Intervention Options Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: A state coach Berline Type, which is dated ca. 1780, is presented. The vehicle bears the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Prussia and is from the former royal stables of Berlin Potsdam. The remaining substance of the object was analyzed, regarding its construction, applied materials and manufacturing techniques. On the basis of these examinations a refinishing of the surface coating during the 19 th century was detected. Aging processes in the refinishing layers have changed the polychrome appearance of the object. Depredation and negligence during the post war period have led to severe damage. The documentation of the current state of the vehicle is followed by recommendations for its conservation
and restorational intervention options.
