Language: Original   -   Translation
Abstract: This work concerns aspects of rescue archaeology – including excavation and documentation – as compared to research orientated approaches.
Further, the documentation of work conducted on the Great Mosque of Aleppo in Syria is presented as an example. The focus is on the technical side of the documentation process as well as on questions of site safety. Five distinct periods of settlement could be identified, extending from the Middle Bronze Age ( early 2nd millennium ) to the present.
