Abstract: | This dissertation is about the conservation of a historical development scheme of an urban district in Berlin called Friedrichshain. The outsize and coloured photograph has a scale of 1:2000 and was probably created by an architect called Walter Franek about from 1957 to 1958. The map as a part of the working process of town-projectors at that time affords an insight into socialistic town-planning with individual signs of using and manufacturing. The dissertation discusses theoretical possibilities of restoration and conservation, a concept of conservation in connection with the development and previous preservation of the map and a description of the process of restoration. Furthermore, it includes a verbal, graphic and photographic discussion of this outstanding development scheme which has an exceptional position among other maps in archives because of the used materials. |
