Abstract: | Main topic is the arthistorical integration and technological examination of a painted baroque chest manufactured in 1676. It was made of conifer wood with iron fittings and is now in private property in Peine-Woltorf, Lower Saxony, Germany. The manufacturing technique, which combined three different materials, was compared to similar objects from the same geographical region. Notable is the rare discovery of copper leaf and the painted background, which was presumably an imitation of stamped leather. |
