Susanne Koch: Troyan Silver-Technological investigation and reconstruction of a vessel from „Priam’s Treasure“ back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The vessel with drilled handles (nr. SCH 5861) is part of the hoard found by Heinrich Schliemann in 1873 in West Anatolia. It dates from the Early Bronze Age and is in the collection from the Museum of Pre and Early History SMPK, Berlin.
The vessel is in a very corroded, fragmented, deformed and in a fragile condition.
Treatment carried out included technological examination of the methods of construction by radiography and micro-computertomography (MCT) and scientific analysis of the metal by means of analytical analysis (AAS; EDAX). A precise 1:1 model was made for reconstruction. The original vessel will be exhibited with an electroplated replica made from the model’s mould.
