Abstract: This available thesis (diploma) deals with with the wall paintings of the “Französische Kapelle” (French chapel) in the former war camp in Soest from the year 1940. The work contains a draw up about the history of the paintings and the use of the chapel within the different periods of use. An extensive object registration is aim of the work. A further component of the work is to do an extensive inventory and condition collection of the paintings. These are basis for the production of a restoration and a preservation concept. Main focus is to determine the most active damages and to find suitable actions to retain the momentary conditions and to be able to repair the original general impression.
