Zusammenfassung: | The well-known problem of joining archaeological glass are discussed by the example of four glass vessels (17th century). The adhesives usually used for conservation of archaeological glass are summerized from the literature and from practical experiences derived from a questionnaire send to archaeological conservators all over the world. Some of these adhesives were tested for adhesives strength and for their ageing-properties. All these results are used to select the appropriate adhesive for the conservation of the glass vessels. Paraloid B 72 and Araldit 2020 are recommended for the conservation of archaeological glass. |
