Zusammenfassung: | The diploma is about a neo-gothic altarpiece in the Votivkirche in Vienna. The object was a present for the 25-year-anniversary of the imperial couple. The partially painted winged-altarpiece consists out of cedar wood and has a pair of wing-paintings which are painted with oilresin-colours and have iron supports. Also, part of the altarpiece are five wooden sculptures and two wooden reliefs-sculptures which are also painted with oil-resin-colours. The altarpiece and the winged-paintings are covered in a darkened secondary oil-varnish and soil-material. The reliefs and sculptures are affected by lead-soaps which cover the whole surface of the objects. The concept of the conservation will discuss treatment-methods for the conservation of the objects and the improvement of their visual appearance. |
