Zusammenfassung: The guild‐chest of the furrier of the Anger museum collection in Erfurt has a far‐reaching history. It
dates back to the 15th century. Not only was the chest used as storage furniture, yet it played a
significant role in the everyday life of the guild.
Following a close examination of the chest, the thesis is to conclude with the question on how to
further handle the historic relic. It is proven that the chest was in the past being repaired and several
times repainted. Today, various damaged areas are visually affecting the chest. Accordingly, the
chest presents itself with its changes over time and needs to be preserved for the future.
In order to achieve this goal, various methodical considerations have been discussed. With reference
to the various materials used for making the chest, a concept of measures was being developed and
in an exemplary section implemented.
