Zusammenfassung: | During surface cleaning of paper objects conservators or other archives or museum employees often unconsciously come into contact with particulate matter. Due to its very small particle size, particulate matter appears invisible to the human eye. It can thus unnoticeably cling to cleaning devices, tools and protective gear and get carried into different work areas or onto other object surfaces. With the use of UV fluorescent particles this thesis will initially visualize and then examine the contamination of work space, tools and cleaning devices through particle spreading. The intensity of particle spreading through already contaminated cleaning devices such as rubber sponges or brushes onto other paper surfaces will subsequently be analysed and compared through various examination methods including microscopic and photometric analysis. On the basis of these compiled conclusions recommendations for a possible transfer into practise will be given. |
