Zusammenfassung: | The Austrian Theatre Museum holds the major part of the stick-puppet theatre created by Richard Teschner, comprising of 134 main characters and several minor characters as well as two stage assemblies together with their entire technical equipment, dating between 1912-1947. Of particular importance is the fact that five plays have been reconstructed and are currently being performed using some of the puppets. Based on thorough documentation and condition reports, a concept for the conservation, restoration, storage and display of the collection has been developed. An additional issue treated is the risk management of damage during performances. Making a mold of the corpus as well as reconstructing the mechanism of a puppet documents not only their basic technical structure, but also enable the calculation of manufacturing options for copies to be used in future productions. |
