Zusammenfassung: | Core topic of this BA-Thesis is the evaluation of the harmfulness of laserpointer radiation onto polychrome objects. First the physical basic principles of lasers and light damage are described and the radiation is compared to the average light contamination of an object. Furthermore laserpointer radiation will be compared with existing studies about lasers in cleaning of artworks. For the series of experiments a green laserpointer with radiation at 532 nm is used. Reference samples are made from the pigments antimony yellow, madder lake, vermilion, malachite and indigo. The binder is egg tempera. The colour layers are radiated with one year’s average laserpointer radiation and possible colour changes are detected with UV/VIS- and IR-Spectroscopy. The experiments show that there are no changes in the colour layers. Therefore can the use of a green laserpointer, together with the used pigments, declared to be not harmful. |
