Stella Maris Steinhoff Retamozo: Protecting, Preserving, Presenting: Storing binding fragments from the Hildesheim City Archives Back
Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The storage of book binding fragments in the Hildesheim City Archive includes protection, preservation and presentation. The spaces are carefully designed to ensure optimal storage conditions and prevent harmful external influences. Archival boxes and shelves made of acid and textile-free materials are used to prevent chemical reactions and friction damage. Each fragment is uniquely identified, described, and inventoried to ensure easy accessibility and traceability. Some fragments may be selected for exhibitions or public events, taking care to treat and protect them appropriately. The preservation of the Hildesheim City Archive´s book binding fragments combines protection, preservation and presentation to ensure the integrity and longevity of the fragments and to explore and honor local history.
