| Abstract: | This study examines three selected pressure sensitive adhesive tapes (PSATs) found in restoration and conservation to assess changes in their properties (composition, adhesive strength, and color). They were analyzed before and after thermal treatment by attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy technique, a 180° peel test, and color measurements. Comparing the self-adhesive tapes with their pre-treatment states after thermal treatment provides insight into their behavior and any changes in composition, adhesive strength, and color, as well as the formation of residues. The results of the investigation can be used to gain a deeper understanding of the selected pressure sensitive adhesive tapes and to guide the design of further experiments, such as studies on residue removal. |
