Abstract: Seminar paper and case study in preparation for a thesis on the topics of gold leaf and part gold. The aim was to establish the state of research on gold beating, its historical links with the production of gold threads in general and so-called membrane threads in particular, as well as the art technology of gold leaf and its use. Furthermore, the analytical techniques for researching these materials (preparation, microscopic representation and physical-chemical analysis) were to be identified.
