| Abstract: | This thesis focuses on the examination and condition assessment of a historicist wall painting depicting Saint John the Baptist, located in the monastery church of St. Marienstern in Panschwitz-Kuckau. The mural was detached in 1967 using the stacco technique. Both the detachment and improper transport caused significant damage. A conservation concept was developed and implemented to address the most urgent stabilisation needs. Due to the instability of the existing support, a new system was designed: an aluminium honeycomb panel combined with a newly developed transfer technique for the mural. |
