Abstract:	Natural saliva is used in conservation as a slightly available and effective surface cleaning agent. The work should summarise present knowledge with the help of a comparative literature search, update and show advantages and disadvantages. With the help of a survey among conservators the thesis should support that natural saliva still finds use among conservaters. Main attention is laid here on natural saliva, however, synthetic saliva is also lighted up. Top
