| Zusammenfassung: | In the context of the DFG research project at the Doerner Institute, ‘Munich Tempera Painting around 1900’ – archive and literature research on the Munich paint manufacturer Richard Wurm. Wurm had developed an oil tempera, marketed under the name ‘Wurm´sche Tempera’, which was produced between 1876 and 1914/17 and was extremely popular with artists such as Paula Modersohn-Becker and her Worpswede colleagues, Max Klinger and Hans Thoma. The core of the study is the surviving correspondence between the company owner and artists from all over Europe (more than 500 order forms, postcards and letters). From these, the properties of the paint could be reconstructed. In conjunction with the recipe for the painting medium found during the research and the chemical analyses carried out by the Doerner Institute, the paint was reconstructed by Dr Wibke Neugebauer. |
