| Zusammenfassung: | This diploma thesis is dedicated to the technological development and restoration of the Fazzelkappen of the Museum of Tyrolean Regional Heritage. These headdresses, which are still worn today as part of traditional costumes, present a particular challenging and unique knitting technique. In addition to the knitted base, a second thread system is responsible for creating the characteristic Fazzeln. The eleven caps were subjected to visual inspections and scientific investigations to identify similarities and differences in manufacturing techniques and materiality as well as the different and representative damages that occur. The aim of the work is to develop a suitable approach to preserving the unusual headgear, which includes securing the knitted structure with stitching repair and drawing up a storage concept. |
