| Zusammenfassung: | This study examines a mural cycle from the first half of the 14th century in the church of Pyrawang, Upper Austria, a significant example of medieval art. The theoretical analysis explores the historical and artistic importance of the murals, along with a detailed examination of previous restoration efforts and their impact on the artwork´s preservation. Complementing this, the practical part provides a comprehensive documentation of the current condition of the murals, critically evaluating the restoration methods and materials. A key focus is the discussion of a test area established as part of the project. This area serves to develop and assess potential strategies for the future presentation and interpretation of the murals. The goal is to gain insights into improving the representation and perception of the murals sustainably. Both conservation requirements and accessibility for a wider audience are considered. By combining art historical research and practical conservation efforts, this work contributes to the long-term preservation and effective communication of the medieval mural cycle. |
