| Zusammenfassung: | Abstract Digitalization opens up new possibilities in the restoration and conservation of art and cultural heritage for precise object recording, long-term documentation, and the management of conservation-related information. This master’s thesis focuses on the exemplary application and evaluation of non-destructive, imaging 3D technologies for monitoring and digital data management on the baroque façade fragment of the former Michaelis Monastery in Hildesheim. The aim is to develop a methodically sound, transferable monitoring concept and to critically examine the potential of Historic Building Information Modeling (HBIM). The work is structured into two main areas: On the one hand, a practice-oriented monitoring model for the systematic recording and comparison of complex surface structures is developed and tested. On the other hand, the study examines how HBIM can serve as a tool for archiving, structuring, and providing conservation data for interdisciplinary use. In addition to technical aspects, challenges of data structuring, interoperability, as well as ethical and professional requirements for the digital planning process are discussed. This thesis demonstrates how the use of 3D monitoring and model-based information management can contribute to developing sustainable strategies for the preservation of art and cultural heritage. |
