| Zusammenfassung: | This master’s thesis deals with the evaluation of chemical and physical influences of plasma- activated buffer solutions (PAL) for the treatment of flax fibre fabrics. In addition to theoretical principles, various analytical methods are applied, including microscopic examination, pH value measurement and viscometry to determine the degradation of the cellulose structure. These methods are used to compare PAL-treated and untreated flax fabrics in order to recognise possible material related changes. Finally, based on the results of the analyses, the extent to which PAL treatment is suitable from a restoration perspective will be discussed. This includes its potential to reduce microbial contamination and serve as an alternative to established biocide methods without causing irreversable changes or damage to the fabric. |
