| Zusammenfassung: | The former Cistercian monastery in Ebrach is a spacious baroque building that today houses a correctional facility. As part of the fourth construction phase, the Sala Terrena is to be converted into the main gate guard. Due to the diverse uses of the room over time, its current condition is multifaceted. Hardly any studies have been conducted in the past to assess the room’s heritage value; only a preliminary investigation by the conservator Eberhard Reichelt in 1990 was documented in a report. A particular feature of the Baroque interior design with grotto elements, is the application of a mica scatter coating. This is applied to the polychrome paint layer, but is covered by several white paint layers. Various conservation and restoration measures are both possible and necessary to address the mica coating appropriately. |
